League Operations

League Requirements

  1. In league competition, teams will be awarded three points for a win and one point for a tie. The team with the most points at the completion of the schedule shall be declared the League Championship winner.

  2. If two or more teams are tied on points for a position, the following tie-breaking factors shall be applied in order:

    1. Goal Average (goals for divided by goals against)

    2. The record of the games between the two teams.

    3. Most wins

    4. Goals for

    5. Goals against

    6. Play-off game

  3. In play-off competition, two periods of extra time shall be played if the game is tied at the end of regulation time. If the score is still tied at the end of the extra time, the winner shall be determined by the taking of kicks from the Penalty-mark.

Game Requirements

  1. The first named team on the schedule shall be the home team.

  2. Substitutions - Unlimited substitution shall be permitted in all games.

    1. Substitution will only be allowed at the following stoppages in play:

      1. When a goal is scored

      2. At a goal kick, or throw-in

      3. At the beginning of the second half

      4. For an injured player

    2. Substitutions shall be made at the half-way line. The substitute must not enter until the player being replaced has left the field of play.

Schedule Requirements

  1. Game Duration: Regulation Time Extra Time

    1. U-6 1 x 35 minute period

    2. U-8 1 x 35 minute period

    3. U-10 1 x 35 minute period

    4. U-12 2 x 20 minute periods 2 x 5 minute periods

    5. U-14 2 x 20 minute periods 2 x 10 minute periods

    6. U-16 2 x 35 minute periods 2 x 10 minute periods

    7. U-17 2 x 35 minute periods 2 x 10 minute periods

  2. For outdoor, 11-a-side games, a minimum of seven players on each team shall be required to start a game. Failure to meet this requirement by the time set for kick-off will result in the game being defaulted. If the game is defaulted, then an exhibition game will proceed. Teams may use any LEX registered players to fill their roster for that game. Both coaches must agree to the players being added.

  3. The team deemed to be the winner of a defaulted game shall be awarded three points and the score will be recorded as 1-0. In play- off competition the winner shall advance to the next round.

  4. If a game is not completed for any reason, it must be reported by the referee. The Club shall determine the outcome as follows:

    1. allow the score to stand

    2. have the game replayed

    3. have the offending team default the game (if applicable)

    4. apply other discipline (if applicable)

  5. If a game is abandoned with less than fifteen minutes to play due to weather conditions, the score shall be allowed to stand if one team is leading by two or more goals.

  6. If a team fails to complete its schedule, all games played by that team shall be declared null and void.

Equipment Requirements

Players must wear the approved club uniform for each game. If necessary, additional clothing may be worn under the uniform but it must not be visible.

The size of the Game Ball shall be as follows: 

U6-U8

Size 3

U10-U12

Size 4

U14 and older

Size 5

The club will supply the ball, nets and corner flags for each game.

Protests

Any protest arising from League or Play-off games shall be sent to the Club by registered mail or recorded delivery within two days of the game to which it relates accompanied by a fee of fifty dollars.

The protesting team must send a copy of the protest to the team being protested against, by registered mail or recorded delivery, within two days of the game concerned.

Protests shall be dealt with in accordance with the policies and procedures of Soccer Northwest and the OSA.
